Privacy and Analytics
Page revised .
We measure how this guide is used with Google Analytics, the same account Paris Tableware uses for its store, so one person moving from a guide page to the store is counted as one visit. A Meta Pixel page view is recorded only for browsers that are not sending a Global Privacy Control signal. Nothing on this site asks you to type in personal details: there are no forms, sign-ups or checkouts here.
Who is responsible
The site belongs to Paris Tableware, the family-owned tableware store in Ridgewood, New Jersey. The same business runs the store at paristableware.com and a separate Herend guide at herend.us, and the measurement data from all three ends up with Paris Tableware.
Google Analytics on this site
Our tag uses Google Analytics 4, measurement ID G-6DJG6RM6WM. For each page view Google receives the address of the page, the page or site that sent you, a rough location, and the type of device and browser. When you click a link to paristableware.com, we also send an event named "shop_click" with the page you were on and the kind of link.
To tell visits apart, Google Analytics stores two cookies under this site's name: _ga and one beginning _ga_. Google's cookie usage table gives both a two-year default lifetime.
The Analytics account is connected to Paris Tableware's Google Ads account, and interest-based advertising is on. As a result Google may also store advertising cookies beginning _gcl_, for example _gcl_au, which its list of advertising cookies says lasts 90 days. Paris Tableware uses that connection to see whether its Google ads work and to show those ads again to past visitors. Some state privacy laws call that kind of use "sharing" for targeted advertising.
Following a link to the store
This guide, herend.us and paristableware.com are set up as one measured group, which Google calls cross-domain measurement and explains in its cross-domain setup guide. When you follow a store link, Google adds a short _gl code to the address so your visit keeps the same ID on the other side. The code holds no name and no email address.
Store links also end with tracking labels, for example utm_source=herendchina.com plus the name of the guide page. They tell Paris Tableware which pages of this guide bring shoppers to the store.
The Meta Pixel and Global Privacy Control
Paris Tableware's Meta Pixel, dataset 2131114557817739, is set to send exactly one event from this site: a page view. Before it loads, the page checks for a Global Privacy Control signal; if your browser sends one, the pixel never loads. If it does load, Meta places its own cookies.
Page views reaching Meta can help Paris Tableware judge its Facebook and Instagram advertising and show its ads to recent visitors. Under some state laws, handing visit data to an ad platform for that purpose is treated as "sharing" or a "sale" of personal information, and that is the reason the GPC signal turns the pixel off.
Your choices
- Send Global Privacy Control. Firefox, Brave and the DuckDuckGo browser can send the signal, and globalprivacycontrol.org names more browsers and add-ons. With it on, the Meta Pixel stays off here. Google Analytics page counts continue.
- Stop Google Analytics everywhere. Install Google's opt-out add-on for Analytics, which works on this site and on every other site using Analytics.
- Turn off interest-based ads in your Google Account. The My Ad Center help article shows where the switch is.
- Delete or refuse cookies. Deleting them gives your browser a fresh ID; refusing them for this site and for paristableware.com keeps both Google Analytics and the pixel from recognizing you on a later visit.
- Opt out at the store. Paris Tableware's Your Privacy Choices page records an opt-out of targeted-advertising sharing by the store.
On paristableware.com
Once you arrive at the store, its own privacy policy covers what happens there, checkout included. That policy states that the store honors a Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out request for the browser sending it, depending on the state you live in.
Questions
For anything about this page, or to ask what information the store has about you, write to info@paristableware.com or phone (201) 652-4233. When the tools on this site change, this page and the date at the top change with them.
Common questions
Does herendchina.com collect my name or email?
No. There is nothing to fill in on this site. Two measurement tools may still count as sharing for targeted ads under some state laws: Google Analytics, connected to Paris Tableware's Google Ads, and the Meta Pixel, which stays off when your browser sends Global Privacy Control.
What is the _gl code added to store links?
A visit ID that Google's cross-domain measurement passes from this guide to paristableware.com, so one shopper is not counted twice. It holds no personal details such as a name or email address.
Will Global Privacy Control stop Google Analytics on this site?
No, only the Meta Pixel. For Google Analytics, install Google's opt-out add-on or block this site's cookies.
