Herend Chinese Bouquet China in Every Color

Written by Tamar Medzadourian, Paris Tableware, Ridgewood, New Jersey. Updated .

Chinese Bouquet is the Herend pattern with a stylized bouquet at the center of the plate, sprigs spaced around the rim and a band of leaves broken by small gold panels, painted by hand in a single color plus gold. It is the largest Herend pattern at Paris Tableware: 373 listings in seven colorways were available on October 24, 2026, plus 45 in the Garland version. Herend's own catalog calls the same pattern Apponyi.

Picking a Chinese Bouquet color

Green and Blue are the safest colors to build on. Both have rose-knob teapots in two sizes, a small butterfly teapot, coffee pots, creamers, sugars and a long list of serving and decorative pieces, and Blue has the most listings of any color. Raspberry and Rust warm a table up and also have teapots, creamers and sugars. Black and Black Sapphire are the most graphic; Black covers the place setting, serving bowls, a creamer and a sugar, and Black Sapphire adds a rose-knob teapot and a mug.

If two colors tempt you, use one for the dinner plates and the other for salad plates or cups. The design is identical in every color, so the mix reads as one set.

Chinese Bouquet Garland

The Garland version keeps only the leafy band with its gold panels and moves it to the outer edge, so the rest of the piece stays white. Paris Tableware lists Chinese Bouquet Garland in Green, Blue, Raspberry, Rust, Black and Black Sapphire, with seven or eight pieces per color: dinner, salad, dessert, bread and butter and service plates, a tea cup and its saucer, and a mug in Green, Blue and Raspberry.

Garland item numbers use their own codes: ASV-US for Green, ASB-US for Blue, ASP-US for Raspberry, ASH-US for Rust, ASNGUS for Black and ASB3US for Black Sapphire. Use Garland as the everyday half of a Chinese Bouquet table, or set a full Chinese Bouquet salad plate on a Garland dinner plate of the same color.

Teapots, mugs and gifts

Chinese Bouquet has more tea pieces than most Herend patterns. Rose-knob teapots come in 36 oz and 60 oz in Green, Blue, Raspberry and Rust, and the 12 oz butterfly teapot comes in Green, Blue and Rust, as in the Herend Chinese Bouquet Green Tea Pot with Butterfly Teapot. Mugs come in two sizes: the 10 oz mug in most colors and a 16 oz coffee mug in Green and Rust.

The pattern also reaches well beyond the table, into lidded boxes, bud vases, cachepots, baskets and candy dishes. That makes Chinese Bouquet an easy gift for someone who already owns the china: a small piece in their color fits right in.

Chinese Bouquet or Apponyi?

They are one pattern under two names. Look at the item numbers: the green, raspberry and rust Chinese Bouquet pieces in the store carry AV, AP and AOG, and so do the manufactory's Apponyi pieces. Our Apponyi guide explains the name, the count it honors, and how to match European pieces with US ones.

Common questions

What colors does Herend Chinese Bouquet come in?

Paris Tableware lists seven colorways: Green, Blue, Raspberry, Rust, Black, Black Sapphire and Multicolor. The Garland version comes in Green, Blue, Raspberry, Rust, Black and Black Sapphire.

How does Chinese Bouquet Garland differ from the full pattern?

The full pattern paints a central bouquet, sprigs on the rim and a leafy band. Garland drops the bouquet and sprigs and keeps the band, moved out to the very edge, so most of the plate is white.

Are Chinese Bouquet and Apponyi different patterns?

No. Apponyi is what the manufactory calls it, Chinese Bouquet is the US name, and the decor codes in the item numbers, such as AV for green, are identical.

Which Chinese Bouquet color do people look for most?

Green, with about 90 US searches a month, then Rust with about 60 and Blue and Raspberry with about 30 each, by Ahrefs estimates for October 2026. In the store, Blue has the largest range.
